RECOMMENDATION:
City Council adopt Resolution No. 2018-_,reappointing Francisco Mendoza-Gonzalez to a regular 4- year term to the Planning Commission.
BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION:
Planning Commissioner Francisco Mendoza-Gonzalez’s term on the Planning Commission ended December 31, 2017. In accordance with City practices and procedures, Mr. Mendoza-Gonzalez has continued to serve on the Planning Commission until the City Council makes a decision regarding filling the vacancy. On March 20, 2018, the City Council considered their options to fill the vacancy and directed staff to prepare a resolution appointing Mr. Mendoza-Gonzalez to a new 4-year term on the Commission. The attached resolution fulfills that Council direction.

RESOLUTION NO. 2018-
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LMNGSTON REAPPOINTING FRANCISCO MENDOZA-GONZALEZ TO THE PLANNING COMMISSION
WHEREAS, Francisco Mendoza-Gonzalez’s term on the Planning Commission expired on December 31, 2017; and
WHEREAS, Francisco Mendoza-Gonzalez continues to serve on the Planning Commission until a new appointment is made in accordance with City practices and procedures; and
WHEREAS, Francisco Mendoza-Gonzalez expressed interest in continuing to serve on the Planning Commission via an email dated February 21, 2018; and
WHEREAS, the City Council, at their regular meeting of March 20, 2018, discussed their options to either reappoint Mr. Mendoza-Gonzalez to the Planning Commission or advertise for additional applicants and directed staff to return with a Resolution reappointing Mr. Mendoza Gonzalez; and
WHEREAS, the Council is pleased with Mr. Mendoza-Gonzalez’s past performance and desires to reappoint him to the Planning Commission to a 4-year term that expires December 31, 2021; and
WHEREAS, this action is ministerial and not subject to the California Environmental Quality Act(CEQA).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Livingston does hereby reappoint Francisco Mendoza-Gonzalez to the Planning Commission for a 4-year term expiring on December 31, 2021.
